BIOPLASTIC PACKAGING

Biomaterial Exploration / Packaging Design
2020
Muji's current packaging mechanisms and materials consist of cardboard and plastic. Both these materials have severe effects on the environment. This project aims to tackle these problems by creating alternative and sustainable solutions to Muji's product packaging. The main material used to devise the alternative material is gelatine, gelatine combined with glycerin provides a thin filament like material known as bio plastic, which is completely sustainable and biodegradable. Thus once the packaging has been used, it can be crushed and put into soil, serving as natural nutrients for plants.
